IMD warns of heat above 40 degree Celsius and thunderstorms across Telangana
The India Meteorological Department has forecast a week of extreme weather in Telangana, with temperatures likely to cross 40°C in several districts even as thunderstorms, lightning, hailstorms and gusty winds are expected in the evenings until the end of the month.
Hyderabad: It’s a case of double trouble, as a tough week in terms of weather is ahead for the people of Hyderabad and districts in Telangana. The day temperatures will be near or more than 40 degree Celsius while thunderstorms, lightning, hailstorms and gusty winds are expected late in the evening or night.
On Thursday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Hyderabad issued a dual weather forecast, wherein, a majority of districts in Telangana will witness maximum temperatures between 36 degree Celsius and 40 degree Celsius.
The maximum temperatures are likely to cross 40 degree Celsius in the coming days in select districts of Telangana including Adilabad, Jogulamba Gadwal, KomramBheem Asifabad, Mahabubnagar, Mancherial, Nagarkurnool, Narayanpet, Nirmal and Wanaparthy.
At the same time, the IMD, Hyderabad has also issued a warning (orange) alert of heavy thunderstorms accompanied with lightning, gusty winds (40 to 50 kmph) to multiple districts till this month end.
