Mukhra (K) sarpanch Meenakshi pins the Digital Tree Aadhaar in the village on Tuesday.
Adilabad: Model village Mukhra (K) sarpanch Gadge Meenakshi has come up with another innovative way to protect trees. She launched ‘Digital Tree Aadhaar’, a QR code-based method to track the growth, age, health and location of a tree by geo-tagging trees planted through different programmes at Mukhra (K) in Echoda mandal on Tuesday.
Meenakshi said that just like how the Aadhaar card was mandatory to get citizenship in the country and avail schemes, the Digital Tree Aadhaar helps in building a database of trees. It will provide information relating to growth, age, health condition and location of the tree as well if scanned. Mukhra (K) is the first village to introduce the digital tracking of trees in Telangana.
It may be recalled that the villagers from all walks of life accepted the Green India Challenge conceived by former Rajya Sabha member J Santosh Kumar and voluntarily took part in the initiative by planting 1 lakh saplings in a piece of 10 acres of land located in Brihit Palle Prakruthi Vanam in a phased manner.
Meanwhile, Santosh Kumar was all praise for Meenakshi for inventing the innovative tracking method.
“Meenakshi’s initiative, Digital Tree Aadhar, is paving new ways for environmental conservation. It will not only track the growth of trees but also promote accountability and sustainability. Kudos to Mukhra (K) Sarpanch for setting an inspiring precedent,” he remarked on his X handle.
Incredible innovation from #MukhraK Village.
