RAJANNA-SIRCILLA: In the run-up to the biennial Sammakka-Sarakka jatara scheduled in February, Vemulawada Rajarajeshwaraswamy temple authorities have begun efforts to ensure that enough precautionary measures in place to check the spread of Coronavirus in the wake of spurt in Covid-19 cases.
There is a tradition in Telangana to have darshan of Vemulawada Rajarajeshwaraswamy before proceeding to the Sammakka-Sarakka jatara, the world’s second biggest tribal festival. Since a large number of devotees are going to visit the temple in the coming days, temple authorities began initiating efforts for the safety of devotees.
Zilla Parishad CEO Goutham Reddy along with temple Executive Office Rama Devi visited and toured the temple premises and checked the steps being taken to check spread of the virus. Besides distribution of face masks to devotees, sanitization has been taken up in the temple premises by the shrine authorities.
The CEO held a review meeting with temple engineering, administration and sanitation department officials. Speaking on the occasion, Goutham Reddy instructed the officials to implement Covid norms in the temple premises without fail and ensure every devotee wears a face mask while entering the shrine premises.
Besides arranging sanitizers in stands at every entry point of the shrine, sign boards along with covid precautions should also be arranged in temple premises. Premises of the temple should be always clean.
Advising the officials to educate devotees to follow covid norms through print and electronic media, he instructed temple authorities not to allow devotees inside the shrine without mask.
He inquired about distribution of masks and arrange of sanitizers at Vemulawada bus stand and parking places.
Officials informed the CEO that sanitizer stands were arranged in 13 places including Dharma Darshanam queue line, Kode queue line, EO office, parking place, Thippapur bus stand, Kalyanakatta and others areas.
Besides thermal screening at 13 places, masks are being distributed in five places. A special team along with 26 staff was also constituted to take steps to control the spread of Covid and Omicron, they informed.
