Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan is inaugurating the Jeevan Lite Smart Medical ICU Ventilator in IIT-H Campus at Kandi in Sanagreddy district on Thursday.
Sangareddy: Governor Tamiliasai Soundararajan has said that India had tackled the Covid-19 better than most of the developed countries because of the continuous efforts of scientists and technologists in India.
Addressing the students and faculty of the Indian Institute of Technology-Hyderabad (IIT-H) after unveiling Jeevan Lite Smart Medical ICU Ventilator developed by researchers in IIT-H near Kandi in Sanagreddy district on Thursday, the Governor has said that Telangana, which is known as the Pharmaceutical Hub of India, had exported vaccines and medicine to over 150 countries. Appreciating the research work of Rajesh Yadav, Cyril Antony, and their team for developing the Smart Medical ICU, She said that she used to get a number of calls during the Covid-19 requesting a bed with a ventilator facility. Despite working round the clock at Raj Bhavan, Soundararajan said that they had found it difficult to extend support to each and every person. She further said even her own father and mother had suffered due to Covid-19
The Governor said that the researchers in India had developed the vaccines within 11 months after the Covid-19 cases reported in India though the researchers usually take over a decade for developing an effective vaccines. She said that the Indian researchers have formed the protocol of Covid-19 early than other countries with the efforts of scientists from DRDO and research institutes such as IIT-H.
Suggesting the students of IIT-H to start doing research from the very beginning of their studies at the campus, Soundararajan has called upon them to join as associates to senior scientists at the campus. She has also underlined the importance of improving their immunity by taking nutritious and traditional food since the country may face fourth wave or any other pandemic-like diseases in the future. The Governor has educated them on the importance of practicing Yoga and Meditation to keep them in good health. United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has purchased and donated 10 Smart ICUs to Governor, who will eventually hand over to the Telangana government and Puducherry government. Chairman Board of Governors BVN Mohan Reddy, Director IIT-H Profi BS Murty, Collector Sangareddy M Hanumantha Rao, SP M Ramana Kumar and others were present.
