Hyderabad: The Telangana Digital Media wing has courted controversy with its Republic Day post on X, with a picture of the Indian tricolour hoisted upside down.

The picture, which has the green colour on top instead of the saffron, is in clear violation of the Flag Code of India 2002. The Flag Code of India brings together all laws, conventions, practices, and instructions for the display of the National Flag.

It governs the display of the National Flag by Private, Public, and the Government Institutions. The Flag Code of India took effect on January 26, 2002. It clearly says that the national flag should not be displayed in an inverted manner, i.e., the saffron band should not be the bottom band.

Netizens were quick to point out the unpardonable mistake.
“This is a official account of Telangana government. See how they print our national flag…! it’s a insult. File a case on Telangana govt officials @rashtrapatibhvn @ANI @PTI_News @AmitShah..” posted one X user Naveen Chary.

The Telangana Digital Media wing has deleted the post after realising its folly.
