Hyderabad: India’s junior boys stole the spotlight with a string of emphatic wins on the second day of competition at the 3rd “Belt and Road” International Youth Boxing Gala – Under-17, 19 and 24 years International Training Camp and Tournament, in Xinjiang, China.

The day saw four strong victories for India. Dhruv Kharb dominated his bout against Uzbekistan’s Yorkinjonov Abdugani with a convincing 5:0 win. Uday Singh followed up with another commanding 5:0 victory over Afghanistan’s Habibi Mohammed Zaki.

Udham Singh Raghav produced one of the highlights of the day, defeating Azerbaijan’s Mehtiyev Tunar by knockout. Rounding off the successful outing, Ashish secured a clinical 5:0 win against Afghanistan’s Salangi Farhad.

India has sent a 59-member contingent comprising 20 boys and 20 girls, supported by 12 coaches, 6 support staff, and 1 referee and judge. Only U-17 boys and girls are representing India at this edition. The team was selected from the 6th U-17 Junior Boys and Girls National Boxing Championships 2025, with medalists across Asian Youth Games and Non-Asian Youth Games weight categories earning a place.

The competition phase of the tournament continues till August 29 in Urumqi and Yili, where India’s junior boxers will look to build on this momentum and showcase their rising talent on the international stage.
