Hyderabad: The pandemic has accelerated the time spent on watching shows, listening to music and/or playing games and a recent trend report by Amazon also points towards this direction. According to the Fire TV Streaming Trends for 2021, Indian consumers are spending four hours each day watching content on their Fire TV devices, up from three hours per day as compared to 2020.
The report also pointed out that by purchasing such devices, one in three customers are bidding farewell to a cable or DTH connection. The Fire TV lets users convert their regular TV into a Smart one thus allowing one to stream websites and apps like YouTube, Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+ Hotstar and others.
“Fire TV is a preferred streaming media device for all-things-entertainment across India and globally—over 150 million Fire TV devices have been sold worldwide, with users streaming billions of hours of content every month,” says Parag Gupta, the India Head of Amazon Devices.
The report also pointed out that comedy retained its spot as the most preferred TV genre among Fire TV consumers and the users asked Alexa to play the popular comedy show Tarak Mehta ka Ooltah Chashmah once every minute. For the kids, shows like Peppa Pig, Doremon and Cocomelon were highly popular.
“The most streamed shows on Prime Video on Fire TV devices include The Family Man Season 2 and The Wheel of Time while Telugu movies like Drushyam 2, Tuck Jagadish and Narappa were highly popular. One in every four Fire TV users tuned into their Fire TV device to listen to music and the streaming hours for Yoga and Fitness apps increased by 15 per cent versus last year,” the report said.
