Hyderabad: India’s star batter Tilak Varma, who is leading Hyderabad in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, complained of acute pain and was taken to a hospital in Rajkot where he underwent surgery for testicular torsion on Wednesday.
Tilak has already started recovering and is expected to be back in action soon. He may even be fit for the upcoming New Zealand T20 series.
The Hyderabad cricket team management informed Telangana Today that the surgery lasted about 30 minutes and was a routine procedure, though doctors advised two weeks of rest as a precaution. “Tilak is with the team and will be flying back home along with us,” the management said.
Tilak, who was captaining Hyderabad in the Vijay Hazare Trophy one-day matches in Rajkot, did not feature in the playing eleven on Thursday against Jammu & Kashmir. Left-arm pacer Chama Milind is currently leading the side.
Meanwhile, Tilak posted on Instagram: “Thank you all for the overwhelming love, already on the road to recovery and I will be back on the field sooner than you know it.”
