Hyderabad: An infant who was kidnapped by a three member gang was rescued and the suspects arrested by the Kachiguda police on Tuesday.

The arrested are Boga Narsing Raj (46), Raghavender (48) and N Umavathi (55) all residents of Karwan.

According to the police, Narsing Raj on Monday approached a woman who seeks alms and stays on pavement at Kachiguda and offered to buy a pair of clothes for her two-month-old son. He took the woman to a store at Kachiguda and asked her to select the clothes for the baby.

“The woman handed over the infant to Narsing Rao and was selecting clothes, when the suspect escaped from the place along with the baby,” said Kachiguda Inspector, K Chandra Kumar.

The woman who noticed her son missing rushed to Kachiguda police station and informed the police who formed special teams to trace the child. Within five hours the infant was traced to house of a woman Sandhya Rani at Gowliguda and rescued.

“Narsing Raj through Raghavendra and Umavathi collected Rs. 1 lakh from Sandhya Rani for arranging a male baby. After kidnapping the infant, he went to the house of Sandhya Rani and handed over the baby. He again collected Rs. 30,000 and left the place,” said Kachiguda Inspector.

Sandhya Rani was childless and was told by three suspects stating that they could arrange a child for adoption legally.
