Inmates join hands to make two lakh seed balls in Telangana jails on World Environment Day
Telangana Prisons Department and IOCL launch seed ball initiative; inmates across State jails prepare two lakh seed balls, distributed via 30 fuel outlets, promoting green awareness and rehabilitation through environmental contribution
Hyderabad: On the occasion of World Environment Day, the Telangana Prisons and Correctional Services Department, in partnership with IOCL, organised a Seed Ball Distribution Programme in the presence of Director General of Prisons and Correctional Services Dr Soumya Mishra.
The department has set a target of preparing two lakh seed balls with the active involvement of inmates. These seed balls are being prepared by inmates across all jails, aiming to create awareness among prisoners and strengthen the department’s mission of reform and rehabilitation through meaningful environmental engagement, according to a press release.
The seed balls will be distributed across Telangana through all 30 fuel outlets maintained by the Prisons Department. They will be given to visitors at these outlets to encourage disbursal in barren land.
