Warangal/Jangaon: Warangal Commissionerate’s Cyber Crime wing and Jangaon police jointly arrested three members of a five-member international gang involved in loan scams using instant loan apps on Saturday.

The arrested have been identified as Debashis Das, Customer Service Manager at Shinebay Technologies  India Pvt Ltd,  Bengaluru, Sanjay BR, Collection Team Manager, Shinebay Technologies Pvt Ltd, and Santosh Kumar Nayak, Collection Executive at Shine Bay Technology Pvt Ltd.

Disclosing details here on Sunday, Warangal Police Commissioner P Pramod Kumar said that two other accused Padra Binda Ray (A-4), HR Manager at Shinebay Technologies Pvt Ltd and Director of the same company Eric Peng Liu (A-4) from China are absconding. “The police have also seized two laptops, a few SIM cards and three cellphones from the accused,” he said and added that the accused were offering loans using the apps and collecting exorbitant interest rates.

“In some cases, the accused threatened the borrowers over the phone, harassed him and sent objectionable messages  to the borrower’s phone number. The accused were threatening and harassing the borrower over the phone using different numbers. One Bandaru Srinivas of Gudlagadda locality in Janagaon town got a loan of Rs 4,000 through this credit app. Due to some reason the victim, Srinivas, did not pay the loan. Following this, the accused called Srinivas over phone number many times and harassed him and also sent objectionable messages to the phone numbers of Srinivas’s relatives,” the CP added.

“Unable to bear the harassment, Srinivas lodged a complaint with the Janagaon police station on December 18. A special investigation team was set up with the Cyber Crime and Janagaon police to nab the accused. As part of the investigation, the police  detained the accused and interrogated them in Bengaluru City on Saturday and produced them before a local court there. Getting PT warrant, they had been brought to here and sent to judicial remand after producing them before a court here,” the CP added. CP Pramod Kumar has congratulated Cyber Crime Inspector K Janardhan Reddy,  and others for nabbing the accused.
