Hyderabad: The Government Railway Police (GRP) along with the Railway Protection Force (RPF) busted an interstate drug peddling racket being operated between Odisha and Pune via Secunderabad and caught one person on Wednesday.
Officials seized marijuana worth over Rs 14 lakh from him.
The arrested person is Laxman Sambhaji Mogal, an agricultural worker from Pune in Maharashtra. The absconding suspect is Manoranjan Das from Pune.
According to the police, the duo planned to earn easy money by drug smuggling and for this, they procured dry marijuana at a lesser rate from drug dealers in Odisha and smuggled to Pune through trains. They sold it to consumers at a higher rate and made easy money.
Based on a tip-off, Laxman was nabbed when he reached the Secunderabad railway station in the train and the drug was seized from him.
