IRISET celebrates 67th Annual Day at Tarnaka campus in Secunderabad

IRISET, one of the eight Centralized Training Institutes of Indian Railways, specializes in training for Railway Signaling and Telecommunication Systems. On average, the institute trains 5,300 officers and supervisors annually. Since its inception, IRISET has trained a total of 112,842 railway personnel.

Hyderabad: The Indian Railways Institute of Signal Engineering and Telecommunications (IRISET), which completes 67 years of existence this year, is celebrating its Annual Day on Sunday, November 24 at its Tarnaka campus in Secunderabad.

One of the eight Centralized Training Institutes of Indian Railways, the IRISET specializes in training on Railway Signaling and Telecommunication Systems. On an average, 5300 officers and supervisors are trained at the Institute in a year. So far, IRISET has trained 1, 12, 842 railway personnel since its inception.

South Central Railway (SCR) authorities said the institute trains the new recruits into the system either through UPSC or RRB selections. “The Signal and Telecommunication supervisors inducted into the Indian Railway System are mandated to undergo refresher courses at a periodicity of every four years,” railway officials said in press release.
So far, the institute has trained 332 foreign national trainees from the countries like Malaysia, South Korea, and Philippines etc. on Railway Signaling. In 2022, a Centre of Excellence (CoE) was established at IRISET for research on ‘Kavach’, the indigenous anti-collision system.
