Irrigation projects in Telangana receive steady inflows
Till 6 p.m on Monday, Jurala project received 1.23 lakh cusecs, and authorities lifted 20 gates to release 1.51 lakh cusecs of water downstream to Srisailam
Hyderabad: Heavy rains continued to lash different parts of the State, resulting in steady inflows into various projects.
Following heavy rains in upstream areas, Indira Priyadarshini Jurala project has been receiving good inflows. Till 6 p.m on Monday, the project received 1.23 lakh cusecs, and authorities lifted 20 gates to release 1.51 lakh cusecs of water downstream to Srisailam. The current storage level in the project is 8.61 tmc against it gross storage capacity of 9.66 tmc.
Similarly, there are steady inflows of 1.50 lakh cusecs into the Srisailam project, which presently holds 48.17 tmc against full storage capacity of 215.80 tmc.
According to Telangana State Planning Development Society, the average rainfall in the State in the last 24 hours was 10.4 mm against the normal rainfall of 5.0 mm. The highest rainfall of 60.3mm was recorded at Kaldurki in Nizamabad. The cumulative rainfall from June 1 to July 19 in the State was 402 mm against the normal rainfall of 267 mm with a deviation of 51 per cent.
Light to moderate rains or thunderstorms are expected at a few places and heavy rains in isolated places during the next two days.
