Is ‘MLA Chori’ any less than ‘Vote Chori’: KTR asks Rahul Gandhi

Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao targeted Congress Lok Sabha leader Rahul Gandhi over defection of BRS legislators into the ruling party. Sharing photos of ten BRS MLAs who joined Congress after winning on BRS ticket, he accused the Congress high command of openly endorsing “MLA Chori” (MLA theft).

In a sharp jibe, Rama Rao asked Rahul Gandhi whether he could recognise the Congress scarf worn by the defected legislators. “These very MLAs met you in Delhi and posed for photos. Today they claim they did not switch parties and that this is not the Congress scarf. Do you agree with this farce?” he taunted.

Questioning Rahul Gandhi‘s silence, the BRS working president said the Congress leader was raising “Vote Chori” (vote theft) at the national level, while ignoring “MLA Chori” in Telangana. “Isn’t this theft of MLAs? How is it any less than vote theft? Aren’t you ashamed of your complicity?” he asked, calling the defections an undemocratic and unconstitutional act.

He accused Rahul Gandhi and Congress of double standards, noting that the leadership not only welcomed the defectors but also publicised their meetings on social media. “Now, when asked, they deny switching sides. This is shameless politics at its peak,” he added.
