Mancherial: Leaders of a joint action committee formed by various student organizations alleged that Education officials were backing private educational institutions. They burned effigies of the officials here on Friday.
Chippakurthi Srinivas, a leader, said that the Right Education Act-2009 guaranteed 25 percent of seats in private schools for differently abled students from minority, SC, ST and BC communities. However, the officials were showing disinterest in implementing the Act, causing gross injustice to the students. It was nothing short of insulting the constitution, he opined.
The leaders further charged that the Education officials were issuing permissions to educational institutions mushrooming in the district. They accused the institutions of fleecing the poor parents in the form of fees. They stated that the institutions converted education into a commodity and schools into super markets. They were charging exorbitant fees.
The organizations demanded the officials to control fees and to allocate 25 percent of seats in private educational institutions to underprivileged students as per the Right Education Act. Leaders Satish Madiga, Cherala Vamshi, Durgam Manish, Munjamkar Rithik, Routhu Shankar, Shashi, Prashant, Shekar and others were present.
