Hyderabad: The Jagathgirigutta police on Wednesday arrested a burglar who allegedly broke into a house two days ago and decamped with property. The police recovered 14 tolas of gold from him.

The arrested person, P Shankar (36), a resident of Yellammabanda, in Jagathgirigutta, on February 23, broke the lock of the house of Rakhapalli Laxmi and made away with 14 tolas of gold kept in the cupboard.

The woman had gone to her relative’s place after locking the house and on her return, found the door lock broken and property missing. The Jagathgirigutta police, on a complaint, registered a case and, after local enquiries, caught Shankar. On interrogation, he admitted to stealing the gold ornaments from the house. The man is arrested and remanded.
