Jagitial: Police detained an alleged interstate thief Pandari Balu (34) and seized Rs 56 lakh worth gold and silver ornaments from him. Producing him before the media here on Saturday, Superintendent of Police, Sindhu Sharma explained the modus operandi of the thief.
A native of Esgaon of Aurangabad, Pandari Balu, was continuing thefts in Telangana and Maharastra since 2014. He was involved in 21 cases in the district. Besides looting locked houses, he used to steal gold ornaments from women who slept outside the houses during the night time. He committed crimes in Ibrahimpatnam, Medipalli, Korutla, Medipalli, Jagitial, Raikal, Sarangapur and Dharmapuri mandals.
In order to detain the accused, district police officials formed a special team under the supervision of Korutla CI Rajashekar Raju. SIs Sudheer Rao (Medipalli), Sathish (Korutla), and Pruthvender Goud (Kathalapur) were members.
The special team arrested the accused in Korutla town on Saturday morning and recovered 1. 60 kg gold and 1.310 kg silver ornaments. Later, he was produced in court
