Jagtial CDPO held by ACB while taking Rs 63,000 bribe

A Child Development Project Officer in Jagtial was arrested by the Anti-Corruption Bureau while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 63,000 from an Anganwadi worker in Metpalli. The officer, Daroju Padma, had reportedly demanded monthly payments from 21 centres under her jurisdiction.

Jagtial: A Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) from the Integrated Child Development Scheme was arrested by Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials while she was allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 63,000 in Metpalli mandal centre on Saturday.

ACB officials said that the accused CDPO Daroju Padma was caught red-handed after she directly received the bribe from an Anganwadi worker for not making adverse remarks during her inspection of Anganwadi centres. A case has been registered against her. She was produced before a special court for ACB cases in Karimnagar for judicial remand.

Padma reportedly demanded Rs 1,000 per month from each of the 21 centres located under the jurisdiction of her project. Accordingly, she accepted the bribe, worked out over three months.
