Jagtial: Driving a car while watching an IPL cricket match claimed the life of a youngster on Sunday night. Dasari Arun (28) drowned after a car plunged into an agricultural well near Thatipalli in Jagtial Rural mandal.
According to police, Arun from Mothe, along with Ashwin and Boga Nivesh from Jagtial town, had gone to Morapalli to attend a function of a friend and met with an accident while returning.
While travelling in the vehicle, the trio were watching the IPL final cricket match on a mobile phone. While paying attention to the match, Arun, who was driving the car, lost control of the steering and subsequently the vehicle veered off the road and plunged into a roadside agricultural well on the Morapalli-Thatipalli road.
As Arun was trapped in the seat because he was wearing a seat belt, Ashwin and Nivesh managed to get out of the car and raised an alarm for help. Nearby people rushed to the spot and alerted the police. On learning about the incident, police and fire department personnel rushed to the spot and rescued Ashwin and Nivesh with the help of ropes.
Arun’s body was found inside the vehicle when the car was retrieved from the well. Police began an investigation after registering a case.
