Jagtial MLA Dr Sanjay becomes first elected representative to receive Covid vaccine in TS
After launching the vaccination programme at the district headquarters hospital, the legislator received the vaccine along with staff of private hospitals.
Jagtial: MLA Dr Sanjay Kumar who served as a frontline worker by providing treatment to a COVID-19 patient earlier, has become the first elected representative in the State to receive COVID-19 vaccine here on Monday. After launching the vaccination programme at the district headquarters hospital, the legislator received the vaccine along with staff of private hospitals.
A doctor by profession, Sanjay Kumar is operating a nursing home in Jagtial. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Sanjay along with orthopedic surgeon Dr Naveen treated a COVID-19 patient Shankar Goud who was bedridden following a leg fracture at the latter’s residence by wearing a PPE kit.
Though public representatives were scheduled to receive vaccine in the second phase, he got eligible in the first phase since he is also serving as a doctor along with the staff of private hospitals. Speaking on the occasion, the MLA informed that after frontline warriors, the Corona vaccine will be administered to all sections of the society in a phased manner.
It may be recalled here that Sanjay Kumar provided treatment to a bedridden corona positive patient on August 16, 2020.
