Jagtial: Another student of the Peddapur Gurukul, Yashvith, was admitted to a private hospital in Korutla after he fell ill, reportedly due to a snake bite on Thursday morning. There were snake bite marks on the leg and hand of Yashvanth, a Class 8 student.

On Wednesday, another class 8 student, Akhil, was admitted to hospital after he started vomiting and complained of pain on his hand. There were snake bite marks on his wrist. School authorities suspected that both the students might have been bitten by a snake on Tuesday night. While Akhil fell sick after a few hours, Yashvith developed symptoms later, they said.

Doctors doubt that the boys were bitten by a Russell’s viper. On knowing about the incident, Collector Satya Prasad visited the students undergoing treatment in a private hospital in Korutla. He enquired about the health condition of students by interacting with doctors. Later, he visited the school.

Two students of the same school had died in July-August, one reportedly due to a snakebite. While Class VII student Rajarapu Ganaditya (13) died on July 26 this year, Yedamalla Anirudh (12) of Class VI died on August 9.

The school had closed down after many students fell ill as well. A cleaning operation had found a den of snakes and at least four snakes were killed in August. Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and Opposition leaders including BRS working president KT Rama Rao had visited the school following the incident.
