Karimnagar: BC Welfare and Civil Supplies Minister Gangula Kamalakar said that a ‘jatara’ (carnival) of welfare schemes has been continuing in the State as the Telangana government has introduced several schemes for the welfare of all sections of the society.

The Minister distributed the cheques of Kalyana Lakshmi and Shaadi Mubaarak cheques to beneficiaries at a programme held in the Collectorate auditorium here on Wednesday. Rs 1.4 crore worth cheques were distributed to 103 beneficiaries from Karimnagar Urban, Kothapalli and Karimnagar Rural mandals.

He said no State in the country has done such development since the Independence, which is being done in Telangana only. It was materialised only because of the visionary thinking of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao.

State government is working with an aim for the development of all sections of the society, he said. Expressing happiness for participating in a programme intended to help the womenfolk, Kamalakar said the Telangana government was extending its support for the marriages of daughters of poor families.

Besides distributing sewing machines to beneficiaries, certificates were also handed over to youths who underwent training in tailoring, beautician, AC repairing courses.
