Jeevandan initiative: Liver of a brain-dead person donated
The doctors retrieved liver (one organ) and allocated it to a needy patient based on organ donation guidelines

Hyderabad: The family members of a 49-year-old private employee Tumati Mehar Kumar, a resident of Sukravaripeta, Khammam, who was declared as brain dead by the team of attending doctors, have decided to donate his organs under State-run Jeevandan organ donation initiative.

On March 6, Mehar Kumar suddenly collapsed due to giddiness at his home and was rushed to a local hospital. On March 10, with no improvement in his health condition, the attending team of doctors declared Mehar Kumar as brain dead.
The sons of Mehar Kumar, including Tumati Mukesh Kumar and Bharat Kumar, gave consent to donate their father’s organs. The doctors retrieved liver (one organ) and allocated it to a needy patient based on organ donation guidelines.
