Wanaparthy: The district police have solved jeweller A Seshu’s murder case and arrested four accused, all natives of Rajasthan, who were presented before the media on Tuesday.
Since the last three years, Deepak Mali, was running a jewellery business at Bijnapally in Nagarkurnool district. Guntur-based A Seshu used to sell readymade gold ornaments to jewelers in Bijnapally. Deepak too purchased gold from Seshu for his business but incurred losses and was reeling under debts. Seshu demanded Deepak to pay Rs.6.50 lakh, which he owed him. Deepak was aware that Seshu carried a considerable quantity of gold and money with him. He planned to eliminate Seshu and clear his debts by snatching the gold and money.
Accordingly, he sought the help of his brother Ramesh Mali, who in turn roped in two of his friends – Jagadish Barward and Mukesh Meghwal. At around 2.30 p.m, on November 11, Deepak made Seshu get into his vehicle on the pretext that he too was heading to Mahabubnagar.
Midway to Mahabubnagar at Maganoor, Deepak stopped the vehicle and three other accused got into the vehicle. Ramesh and Jagadish then landed severe blows on Seshu, who fell unconscious. They threw Seshu’s mobile in a roadside lake. When Seshu retained consciousness near Veligonda, Chinnambavi mandal, all the four accused held him tight and blocked his nose and mouth, and then strangulated him with a towel. They dumped the Seshu’s body in a ditch on the roadside and fled with the gold and cash, police said.
The special team, which was constituted to solve the case, received credible information that Deepak was heading towards Bijnapally in his Bolero. They nabbed him and produced him before the Wanaparthy Inspector on Tuesday. During interrogation, Deepak admitted to the crime, police said.
Based on his information, the three other accused were also arrested and gold and jewellery worth Rs.63.5 lakh and cash Rs.6.53 lakh were recovered from them.
