Hyderabad: The just-released ‘Jigra’ is an action thriller directed by Vasan Bala. Produced by Karan Johar under Dharma Productions, the film stars Alia Bhatt, Vedang Raina in lead roles supported by Rahul Ravindran, and Manoj Pahwa, with the music composed by Achint.
The film revolves around Satya, played by Alia Bhatt, who is the elder sister of Ankur, played by Vedang Raina. The story is all about Satya, who alone raises her brother as they are both orphans. Later in the story, Ankur gets arrested in a South Asian country under a narcotics case despite being innocent and gets sentenced to death via electrocution.
So, the story focuses on Satya, who can go to any length to save her younger brother — whether she manages to do it, and, if yes, how does she do it.
The film starts in a slow pace and shows how the main lead settles in another country, and makes it predictable for the audience. The first half, therefore, is the story buildup, followed by action in the second half, while it lags a bit again in the climax.
The background music is decent and fits the situation well. The two songs sung by Vedang Raina become the cherry on top. Alia Bhatt does her magic again and makes it relatable for every elder sibling in this is female-oriented flick with strong characterisation.
On the flip side, the villan’s build-up is a little over and irritating; it would have done good if the makers explored and explained more about the character. And the massy elements could have been shown better. Most of the scenes pay a tribute to Amitabh Bachchan through different elements, which shows that the director is a fan of Big B. If you like strong female-oriented action thrillers, you can enjoy it with your loved ones.
