Peddapalli: Police have launched a manhunt to nab a man who slit the throat of a woman after she turned down his love proposal. The woman Anjali Devi died instantly and the assailant, identified as Raju, fled the spot. The incident took place at Venkatraopali village of Ramagiri mandal on Tuesday afternoon.
Police said Raju, a resident of Tarakaramanagar and a tractor driver by profession, was harassing Anjali Devi in the name of love for the last three years. The woman informed the matter to her family members and the issue was discussed by elders thrice in a panchayat, but Raju continued to stalk her. On Tuesday, he went to her house, when she was alone and proposed to her. When she refused his proposal, he picked up a knife, slit her throat and fled. Anjali bled to death and the neighbours who noticed her body alerted the police.
The investigation is under way. Peddapalli DCP Ravinder, ACP Giriprasad, Two town CI Srinivas inspected the spot.
