Hyderabad: In a major relief to the student community, the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU) – Hyderabad has announced grace marks for all UG, MBA and MCA students admitted under R22 academic regulations.
The grace marks, as per the university order, amounting to 0.15 percent of the total maximum marks of all semesters in the programme will be awarded. This is in line with the long-standing practice followed for all academic regulations except for the R18 academic regulations.
The university took this decision based on the recommendations of a committee that met on June 16. This benefit will be applicable to those students who have completed all four years of study and appeared for all semester-end examinations.
The grace marks are also applicable to students who have passed all courses except one, two or three courses, where the addition of grace marks would enable them to acquire the required credits for the award of provisional degree certificate. There is no bar on allocating maximum grace marks to any course.
The Students Protection Forum (SPF), which consistently raised the issue with the university, welcomed the move.
This decision would now provide relief to thousands of engineering and pharmacy students by safeguarding their academic future, said Rahul Naik, president SPF.
