Hyderabad: In a move that could spell some relief for students, the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University-Hyderabad (JNTU-H) has increased the duration for semester examinations by one hour.

This means students will have to complete the examination in three hours instead of the earlier limit of two hours. The university has not however changed the question paper pattern. Students will have to write five out of eight questions and there will be no mandatory section in the question paper.

This pattern of question paper was followed in the previous examinations due to the Covid-19 pandemic in 2019-2020. The enhanced time duration will be applicable for all semester examinations commencing from March 8.

“We received representations from students stating that time was not sufficient for completing the examination. So, we have increased duration of the examination from two hours to three hours for odd semester exams of BTech and BPharmacy courses starting March 8. There is no change in the question paper pattern and marks,” JNTU-H Registrar Prof. Manzoor Hussain said.

Like in the last semester examinations, students will be allotted exam centres as per their preferences and the nearest to their hometowns. Accordingly, the university has collected preferences from students to select a cluster of colleges. Complying with the State government’s directions, the university resolved not to consider attendance based detentions for odd semesters for the academic year 2020-21.

Notification for one-time chance exams issued

The JNTU-H examination branch has issued a notification for one-time chance examinations (special supplementary exams) including exams for internal marks improvements.

The notification was issued for the benefit of candidates of all UG and PG courses under the univeristy who have completed all attempts and having backlog in any UG and PG course. The last date of registrations for these exams without fine is March 19. The exams will be conducted in April/May – 2021.

More details are available from the principals of colleges where the course work was completed. Details are available on the university website www.jntuh.ac.in as well.
