Hyderabad: In a move aimed at addressing faculty shortage besides providing quality education to students, particularly in rural constituent colleges – JNTUH- Sircilla and Wanaparthy, the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU) – Hyderabad on Friday launched special online classes’ initiative.
Speaking at the launch event here on Friday, JNTU-Hyderabad Vice Chancellor Prof V Balakista Reddy said the objective of the initiative was to extend the quality education available at the main campus to at least 15 per cent to 20 per cent of students in rural constituent colleges. The online classes would primarily be held on Fridays, Saturdays, or as per the availability of faculty, he said.
Online classes for constituent colleges were launched keeping in mind the shortage of faculty in some institutions, he said.
University Rector Prof. K Vijaya Kumar Reddy, Registrar Prof K Venkateshwara Rao, directors and other senior officials also took part in the launch.
