Hyderabad: Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU) – Hyderabad Vice Chancellor Prof T Kishen Kumar Reddy on Wednesday urged the National Board of Accreditation to consider assistant professors (contractual) as regular faculty while calculating the student-faculty ratio during accreditation assessments.
Addressing an awareness workshop on Outcome-Based Education and Accreditation (OBE&A) organised by the NBA, in collaboration with the JNTU-Hyderabad, here on Wednesday, Prof Reddy highlighted key challenges faced by State universities, including faculty recruitment issues, financial constraints, and complex accreditation procedures.
Prof Reddy emphasised the need for a holistic accreditation framework integrating NBA, UGC, AICTE, and the Pharmacy Council, to reduce the administrative burden on institutions.
NBA chairman Prof Anil D Sahasrabudhe emphasised the significance of NBA accreditation in maintaining global educational standards, particularly under the Washington Accord, of which the NBA has been a signatory since 2014.
