Hyderabad: Actor-turned-politician Pawan Kalyan’s Janasena Party has entered into an alliance with the BJP to contest the Khammam Municipal Corporation (KMC) elections.
KMC is among the seven Urban Local Bodies that will go to polls on April 30. The party said it will announce alliance, if any, for elections to other ULBs in the State.
Following instructions from Pawan Kalyan, party leaders held a meeting with BJP leaders, including former MLA C Ramachandra Reddy and arrived at an understanding to stitch together the alliance, a statement from Janasena Party said here on Sunday.
However, there was no announcement over seat sharing between the two parties. There are 60 wards in KMC and the parties will convene another meeting to finalise seat sharing.
Meanwhile, Pawan Kalyan, who is in isolation, issued a statement and said his health was improving and thanked all for their concern and wishes.
He appealed to the people to wear masks and use sanitisers extensively. He also urged both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana government’s to intensify measures to contain the spread of the virus, besides ensuring provision of beds, medicines and quality treatment to people.
