Hyderabad: The counting of votes for the Jubilee Hills by-election will begin at 8 am on Friday at the Kotla Vijaya Bhaskara Indoor Stadium in Yousufguda.
District Election Officer R V Karnan, along with Hyderabad Joint Police Commissioner, Tafseer Iqbal, detailed the vote counting arrangements and said, “The postal ballot counting will be done first and then the EVMs will be taken up. We have set up 42 tables this time with special permission of the Election Commission of India, keeping in view that 58 candidates are in the fray.”
A total of 186 counting staff had been deputed and updates would be provided through the LED screen and the Election Commission of India app. Only candidates and agents would be allowed.
Tafseer Iqbal said that Section 144 has been imposed and no permission was given to take a victory procession either by the winner or party leaders and supporters. “Foolproof arrangements with adequate force have been made,” he added.
Earlier, the District Election Officer and Election Observer visited the Indoor stadium and reviewed overall arrangements, including the counting tables and iron barricading for the parties’ agents and EVMs.
