Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy said the Jubilee Hills by-election was a direct battle between Narendra Modi and K Chandrashekhar Rao on one side, and Rahul Gandhi, himself and Asaduddin Owaisi on the other, and not just between Naveen Yadav and Maganti Sunitha.
Addressing a roadshow in Shaikpet division on Wednesday, he asked people to judge parties by their work. He claimed the Congress government was delivering welfare and development, while the BJP was obstructing Telangana’s progress.
Stepping up his attack on the Centre, Revanth alleged that Modi was protecting Chandrashekhar Rao and KT Rama Rao in the Kaleshwaram project case. “We handed the case to the CBI three months ago, yet Modi is not allowing action. Why is he shielding them?” he asked.
He said Union Minister G Kishan Reddy should “fight in Delhi” for Telangana’s interests instead of questioning the State government. He accused the BJP of blocking funds for the Musi Riverfront Development Project. “Similar projects are implemented in Gujarat and other BJP-ruled States. Why stop Telangana?” he said, calling the BJP’s promises on Regional Ring Roads and radial corridors empty.
Revanth Reddy claimed that 61,000 ration card holders were receiving fine rice, Rs 500 LPG refills were being provided under Gruhajyothi, and 4,000 Indiramma houses would be built in Jubilee Hills. He also claimed that Rs 400 crore was sanctioned for development works in the constituency in three months.
Predicting a majority of 30,000 votes for Congress candidate Naveen Yadav, Revanth Reddy said Shaikpet alone would contribute 15,000 votes. “Naveen contested earlier on an MIM ticket, but will now win on Congress merit and serve the people,” he said.
