Hyderabad: The District Election Office (DEO) has intensified efforts to boost voter turnout in the upcoming Jubilee Hills bypoll scheduled for November 11. With the electorate now swelling to nearly four lakh, officials are optimistic that turnout could reach 60 per cent — a significant rise compared to previous years’ figures.
Since the formation of the Jubilee Hills Assembly constituency, elections have been held in 2009, 2014, 2018, 2023 and now the 2025 bypoll. In comparison, voter turnout stood at 52.76 per cent in the 2009 Assembly elections, fell to 50.18 per cent in 2014, dropped further to 45.59 per cent in 2018, and rose slightly to 47.58 per cent in the 2023 elections.
Now, with a by-election becoming inevitable, polling authorities attribute the anticipated rise in voter engagement to a series of targeted awareness campaigns and initiatives aimed at encouraging greater participation.
District Election Officer RV Karnan has reportedly deployed additional resources to ensure that voters are well-informed about the polling process and the importance of exercising their franchise.
“Special attention is being given to first-time voters and those who have recently been added to the electoral rolls,” a polling official told Telangana Today.
Officials also highlighted the logistical arrangements being made to facilitate a smooth voting experience. Measures include establishing additional polling stations, improving accessibility for senior citizens and persons with disabilities, and deploying adequate security personnel to maintain order on polling day.
With the bypoll set for November 11, authorities remain hopeful that these concerted efforts will translate into a higher voter turnout, reflecting a more robust democratic process in Jubilee Hills.
