Hyderabad: Headed for by-election on November 11, the Jubilee Hills assembly constituency comes with a mix of electorate and is known for its glamour quotient being home to a thriving Telugu film industry.
Encompassing the burgeoning western part of Hyderabad, the constituency is home to 3.92 lakh registered voters, as per final electoral rolls on September 30, and a hub for the Telugu film industry with major studios such as Saradhi Studios, Annapurna Studios, Ramanaidu Studio and Padmalaya Studio.
It is also the residence of several celebrity stars, including Prabhas, Jr NTR, Jayasudha and Mahesh Babu. Here in the constituency, Krishna Nagar is popular for the entertainment world being the bustling base for actors, junior artists, dancers, troupes, artist unions and writers. The MPs and MLAs Colony is also situated here.
In addition to its glamour, Jubilee Hills is known for its spiritual significance, with shrines like Sri Peddamma temple and Sri Jagannath temple.
The historic Qutb Shahi Tombs and a slice of pristine nature in the form of KBR National Park apart the constituency has been the focus of massive infrastructure development in recent times with Durgam Cheruvu cable bridge and other projects.
Jubilee Hills – a profile:
Jubilee Hills’s genesis goes back to the year 1963 when the idea of residential development in the then desolate hilly region was conceived. In 1967, IAS officer and Padma Shri awardee Challagalla Narasimham became the first resident by building a house in the then-undeveloped hilly terrain. His family’s settlement marked the beginning of Jubilee Hills as a prominent locality.
Over the past two decades, the constituency has transformed into a hub for the IT industry, luxurious homes, and commercial areas.
