Hyderabad: Senior woman kabaddi player Ramavath Nandi successfully made a comeback by participating in the recently held 72nd Senior National Women’s Kabaddi Championship, after undergoing a series of surgeries and rehabilitation at KIMS Sunshine Hospitals, Begumpet.

The kabaddi player overcame two major knee-related injuries, which were treated by Dr B Chandrasekhar, Director (Shoulder and Sports Surgery), KIMS Sunshine Hospitals, a press release said. Recognising her efforts to make a comeback, the hospital’s senior management, including its founder, Dr A V Gurava Reddy, felicitated Ramavath Nandi.

In 2022, Nandini suffered an ACL ligament injury to her right knee, forcing her to step away from competitive sports. Following a successful ACL reconstruction surgery and structured rehabilitation, she returned to the field within a few months and resumed competitive play.

Unfortunately, in 2024, she sustained another injury to the same knee, this time affecting the meniscus. Once again, under Dr Chandrasekhar’s guidance, the medical team performed timely surgery followed by comprehensive rehabilitation. Her injury healed completely, enabling her to return to sports within just three months, the release added.
