Khammam: The 107th birth anniversary of people’s poet and Padma Vibhushan recipient Kaloji Narayana Rao was celebrated in a grand manner in erstwhile Khammam on Thursday.
At a programme at the TRS district office here the party office in-charge, Gundala Krishna, SUDA Chairman, Bachu Vijay Kumar, the party leaders Krishna Chaitanya, Md Y Pasha, Shaik Shakeena and others offered floral tributes to Kaloji.
Speaking on the occasion, Krishna said Kaloji inspired the Telangana statehood movement with his writings. It was a matter of great pride that the Telangana government declared Kaloji’s birth anniversary as ‘Telangana Language Day ‘ to mark his contributions to Telangana literature. In a statement, TRS Lok Sabha party leader and Khammam MP Nama Nageswara Rao described Kaloji as an ever-inspiring figure who inspired generations of Telangana people to fight for self-rule.
Kaloji spent his entire life focusing on public issues and highlighted the richness of Telangana literature with his writings and throughout his life he strived to uphold truth and justice, the MP said. Khammam District Central Library chairman and Kothagudem District Central Library chairman MA Qamar and Dindigala Rajender have paid homage to Kaloji and said the poet used his pen as a weapon against the Nizam’s tyrannical rule. At a programme at the TNGOs Union Khammam district office the TNGOs Central Unions secretary K Srinivas, leaders G Balakrishna, Valloji Srinivasa Rao, Ayush Prakash, Durgaprasad and others offered tributes to Kaloji and recalled his services to the cause of separate Telangana.
