Hyderabad: The much-awaited trailer of Thug Life, directed by Mani Ratnam and starring Kamal Haasan, was released recently and has quickly gone viral. The film is scheduled to release in theatres on June 5, 2025.

Audience have responded positively to the trailer, applauding its grand visuals, strong background score, and the talented cast. However, one particular scene has stirred a new conversation online. A brief romantic moment between Kamal Haasan and actress Trisha has led some social media users to talk about the age gap between the two stars.

Viewers, especially from Telugu-speaking regions, pointed out that similar casting choices in Telugu films have often faced harsh criticism. They questioned why the same energy isn’t seen now, suggesting there may be a difference in how the industries are judged.

This isn’t the first time the topic has come up. At a press meet for Sikandar, Salman Khan was asked about working with Rashmika Mandanna and addressed the issue directly.

Thug Life also features Silambarasan (Simbu), Abhirami, Saiee Manjrekar, Ashok Selvan, and Nasser. The film is being produced by Raaj Kamal Films International, Madras Talkies, and Red Giant Movies, with music composed by AR Rahman.
