Karimnagar civic official surrendered to govt for dereliction of duties

Karimnagar: Additional Commissioner of the Municipal Corporation of Karimnagar (MCK), J Suvartha, has been surrendered to the government for not discharging her duties satisfactorily.
Municipal Commissioner Praful Desai issued orders on Tuesday, surrendering her services to the Commissioner and Director of Municipal Administration.
In his letter, the Commissioner stated that several important sections, including pensions, birth and death registrations, RTI, tap connections and trade licences, were entrusted to her. She was also made overall in-charge of the district food safety and hygiene rating committee and the street food registration committee.
She was directed to ensure effective monitoring, obtain periodical reports, and convene regular review meetings. However, according to the Commissioner, she failed to discharge her responsibilities effectively.
Municipal sources said the celebration of a contractor’s birthday in her chamber also drew the ire of higher officials, and this incident is believed to have triggered the decision to surrender her.
