Karimnagar: The Ganneruvaram police, with the help of fishermen, rescued a person who was stranded in floodwaters near Ganneruvaram on Monday.
Bandari Bhupathi Reddy (47), a native of Begampeta of Bejjanki mandal, went to Pothur on some work. On his return, he found water flowing over the road near Pothur as Ganneruvaram tank was overflowing. He got off the bike and tried to push the two-wheeler, but the current pushed him down a 20 feet deep gorge. Later, he managed to climb onto a rock.
Finding Bhupathi Reddy on a rock in the middle of the floodwaters, passersby alerted the police. Led by SI Avula Thirupathi a police team rushed to the spot and began the rescue operation with the help of fishermen.
Three fishermen managed to reach Bhupathi Reddy from different sides in boats and rescued him. Police dropped him home after providing first aid. The SI appreciated the fishermen for rescuing the stranded person, putting their lives at risk.
Meanwhile, Commissioner of Police V Satyanarayana appreciated the SI and other police personnel for responding immediately and taking steps to rescue the stranded person.
