Karimnagar: BC Welfare and Civil Supplies Minister Gangula Kamalakar instructed the officials to prepare a comprehensive list of eligible persons for ration cards within a week and complete the verification process.
According to the guidelines of the Cabinet Sub-Committee constituted to issue new ration cards, officials should complete the verification process of pending applications as early as possible and prepare the list within one week.
Minister discussed the issuing of new ration cards and paddy procurement with the district Collectors, Additional Collectors, Revenue Officials and Civil Supplies Department officials of all districts through video conference from Karimnagar collectorate office on Friday.
Speaking on the occasion, Kamalakar explained Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao’s motto that nobody should suffer due to lack of food in the State. He instructed officials to verify the details of 11,67,827 beneficiaries who were having 4,15,901 ration cards, which were not verified by NIC and IT departments.
Informing that the highest number of applications were pending in Hyderabad, Rangareddy, and Medchal-Malkajgiri districts, he wanted both GHMC and municipal officials should take up the verification process in coordination.
Minister also instructed the officials to collect the details of tenants, who were vacated after registering the details with the administration and issue ration cards to eligible persons.
Informing that the state government was contemplating issuing smart cards to ration cardholders, he instructed that the entire procession should be done in a transparent manner.
Civil Supplies commissioner, Anil Kumar said that the state government has taken all measures to issue new ration cards. 4,97,389 applications, which were verified in different stages, have been sent to districts, he informed and asked collectors and civil supplies officials to send the list of eligible people.
Talking about paddy procurement, Kamalakar informed that Telangana has broken its own record by procuring 90 lakh metric tons of paddy in the present Yasangi season. Telangana is the only state which has procured paddy by providing minimum support price (MSP).
So far, Rs 17,000 crore worth of crop was procured and the amount has been deposited in farmers’ bank accounts within three days. Intermediate godowns have been utilized to store the crop.
Despite the Covid pandemic, the procurement process was completed without facing any shortage of labourers, transportation, milling and unseasonal rainfall.
Minister thanked all district collectors, additional collectors, civil supplies department officials, revenue officials, cooperative societies, women groups, families and labourers for extending their cooperation for smooth completion of procurement. Minister also discussed with officials the problems of ration shop dealers and setting up of new shops.
