Karimnagar: A building where Mandal Parishad Development Office is being operated was locked by the owner as the rent has not been paid for the last 18 months, Ganneruvaram mandal on Monday. As part of the formation of new mandals, the State government created Ganneruvaram as a mandal and the office is being operated in a private building.
On July 1, 2019, officials rented the building and entered an agreement with the owner Tella Thirupathi to pay a monthly rent of Rs 12,500. Out of 29 months, officials have paid the rent for 11 months and Rs 2.25 lakh (18 months) rent is pending. Though Thirupati has been making rounds around the office for rent, officials postponed the payment of rent.
Upset over the apathetic attitude of officials, Thirupati locked the MPDO office. MPDO Swathi took initiative to open the building and promised to clear the pending rent amount very soon.
