There is a demand that the college be located at Satavahana University.
KARIMNAGAR: The State government’s decision to establish an engineering college in Husnabad is triggering opposition from various quarters. The State government had issued GO 18 sanctioning the University College of Engineering to Satavahana University, mentioning that the college would be established in Husnabad.
Students and several other sections of people are opposing the decision demanding that the college be located at Satavahana University.
They said though there was adequate space and other facilities on the university premises, the engineering college was sanctioned to Husnabad only because of the influence of Transport and BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabahakar.
Prabhakar, who was representing the Husnabad Assembly constituency got the college sanctioned to his constituency headquarters to gain support from the public, the people of Karimnagar town feel.
In this regard, BJP leader and former Mayor Y Sunil Rao wrote a letter to Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy requesting him to revoke the decision and take steps to establish the college on the Satavahana University premises.
He wanted the IT and Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu to do justice to local students by establishing an engineering college at Satavahana University.
