Karimnagar: Karimnagar Town-II Sub-Inspector Chandrashekhar’s wife, Divya, died allegedly by suicide after consuming oleander seeds at her residence. She succumbed during treatment at a Hyderabad hospital on Wednesday.

According to police, she consumed a mixture of oleander seeds and leaves on Tuesday when her husband Chandrashekhar had gone to the police station. At around 11.30 am, she made a phone call to Chandrashekhar and informed him about the incident. The SI rushed to his residence in Hanumannagar and shifted her to a private hospital in Karimnagar town. As her condition turned critical, she was shifted to a corporate hospital in Hyderabad, where she breathed her last while undergoing treatment at around 7.55 pm.

Stomach pain is said to be the reason for her decision to end her life. Divya’s father, Thedla Chinna Sammaiah, also mentioned this in his complaint. Stating that there was no suspicion over his daughter’s death, he said Divya had taken the extreme step as she was unable to bear stomach pain.

The couple has two sons. The body was brought to the Karimnagar district headquarters hospital for postmortem.
