Karimnagar: TRS candidates for Karimnagar Local Authorities Constituency (LAC) T Bhanu Prasad Rao and L Ramana won the elections of which the results were announced on Tuesday. The counting of votes of Karimnagar LAC was held in SRR Degree and PG College here on Tuesday. While Bhanu Prasad Rao got 585 votes, Ramana secured 479 votes. Both the ruling party candidates won the polls only after completion of the counting of the first priority votes.
Meanwhile, independent aspirant and former Karimnagar Mayor S Ravinder Singh got 232 votes. Though eight independent candidates had contested the election, Ravinder Singh got the highest votes. A total of 1,320 votes were polled in the LAC election held on December 10 against 1,324 votes in the erstwhile district. Out of 1,320 polled votes, 1,303 votes were found valid and 17 became invalid. Seven other independents secured seven votes.
While Sarabudla Prabhakar Reddy got three votes, Adla Jogi Reddy secured two votes. Munigala Vijayalaxmi and Are Rajender got one vote each. Three other independents such as Enumula Satyanarayana, Kolluri Gangadhar and Masarti Ramesh secured no vote.
Speaking to reporters after taking election certificates from the returning officer, Bhanu Prasad Rao and Ramana thanked the Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao and Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister KT Rama Rao for giving them an opportunity to contest in the MLC elections. They also thanked Ministers from the districts Gangula Kamalakar and Koppula Eashwar for extending their support.
TRS still a strong force
Thanking ZPTCs, MPTCs, Corporators, Councilors for electing them by reposing faith in them, they termed the victory as the TRS party’s victory. It was once again proved that TRS was still a strong force in the State and there was no alternative for the party.
Promising to work for the development of old Karimnagar district, they promised to take steps for the welfare of all sections of the society.
Unethical BJP-Cong alliance drubbed in Karimnagar: Gangula
TRS activists celebrated the party candidates’ victory in the elections of both the Karimnagar Local Authorities Constituencies. Rejoiced over the victory of the party candidates T Bhanu Prasad Rao and L Ramana, TRS leaders and workers bursted crackers and dancing to the tunes of drumbeats across the erstwhile Karimnagar district.
TRS activists led by BC Welfare and Civil Supplies Minister Gangula Kamalakar participated in celebrations held in Karimnagar town. Later, speaking to reporters at SRR College counting center, Kamalakar thanked ZPTCs, MPTCs, Corporators, and Councilors for electing party candidates by giving first priority votes. It was once again proved that TRS leaders and cadre remained united.
Though the party has 986 votes in local bodies, 78 additional votes were polled to TRS candidates in the polling. Public representatives belonging to other political parties have also exercised their votes to TRS aspirants. Talking about the independent candidate, S Ravinder Singh, the Minister said both the BJP and Congress parties indirectly supported the former. Though both the parties have 324 votes, their candidate got only 232 votes. Surprisingly, all the voters of BJP and Congress have not cast their votes for their joint candidate.
Terming BJP and Congress alliance as unethical, Kamalakar said both the parties had tried to repeat their immoral association done in Huzurabad by-election. However, voters rejected the conspiracy of both parties by winning TRS candidates.
