Hyderabad: In a landslide victory, the ruling TRS party has won all the six MLC seats in the elections to Local Authorities’ Constituencies (LACs, with first preference votes). The party had already secured six MLC seats unanimously and thus, registered a clean sweep by retaining all 12 MLC seats under LACs. The election results were declared on Tuesday.

The Opposition parties pinned hopes on cross-voting from TRS elected representatives from local bodies and expected to win at least one seat. The Opposition parties could not even give any competition to the ruling party in these elections to six MLC seats, while TRS already won the remaining six seats unopposed.


As per the results declared, TRS candidates T Bhanuprasad Rao and L Ramana from Karimnagar Local Authorities Constituency (LAC) received 584 and 479 votes respectively of total 1,320 votes polled, winning both the MLC seats. Similarly, Vanteru Yadava Reddy secured 762 of 1,018 votes polled and gained a massive 524 votes majority over his immediate opponent in Medak LAC.

Dande Vittal bagged 664 of total 937 votes in Adilabad constituency and won with a majority of 664 votes. In Khammam, Tata Madhusudan has won the election with 480 votes and defeated his nearest rival with a majority of 238 votes. TRS candidate Mankena Koti Reddy was polled 917 votes of total 1,233 votes polled in Nalgonda constituency.

Celebrations had broken out at the party headquarters, Telangana Bhavan and across different parts of the State soon after the results were declared. The party activists and supporters danced to the tunes of drum beats and distributed sweets, attributing the victory to the party President and Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao as well as the party working president and Minister KT Rama Rao.

Earlier, TRS candidates K Kavitha from Nizamabad LAC, Patnam Mahenderreddy and Shambhipur Raju from Rangareddy LAC, Pochampally Srinivasreddy from Warangal LAC, Kuchukulla Damodar Reddy and Kasireddy Narayana Reddy from Mahabubnagar LAC, were elected unanimously.

Reacting to the resounding victory of the TRS in the MLC polls, TRS working president KT Rama Rao congratulated the TRS candidates on their win and thanked the party . He said the TRS has continued its winning streak in every election since the formation of Telangana State. “People are electing the TRS candidates in every election, acknowledging the excellent governance by the TRS government led by Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, realising the aspirations of people of Telangana,” he said.

The Minister said the TRS party has proved once again that it was an unstoppable political force in the State by winning all 12 seats MLC seat. He said local bodies were strengthened with innovative initiatives of the TRS government since it came to power, especially through Palle Pragathi and Pattana Pragathi programmes by timely release of funds every month. Impressed by the State government’s initiatives, the elected representatives of the local bodies elected the TRS candidates.

Ministers T Harish Rao, S Niranjan Reddy, G Jagadish Reddy, Talasani Srinivas Yadav, Errabelli Dayakar Rao, Satyavathi Rathod, Koppula Eeshwar, Gangula Kamalakar, V Srinivas Goud, MLC K Kavitha and others congratulated the elected candidates.
