Karimnagar: The famed Silver Filigree of Karimnagar (SIFK), known for its intricate craftsmanship, has once again captured attention by manufacturing gifts for the Global Summit-2025, beginning in Hyderabad on Monday. Delegates from various countries will receive SIFK’s exclusive artefacts as official souvenirs.
SIFK received an order from the State government to craft 60 images of Gautama Buddha in a meditation posture. Around 100 artisans were engaged to complete the order within ten days, and all the pieces have been handed over to the authorities ahead of the summit. The Buddha artefacts will be presented to international guests participating in the event.
Karimnagar’s filigree artistry has frequently been in the limelight. Recently, Prime Minister Narendra Modi mentioned SIFK in his ‘Mann Ki Baat’ programme. It may be recalled that SIFK crafted saree pins for the contestants of the Miss World-2025 pageant held in Hyderabad.
The unit previously crafted 400 gifts for the wedding of Anant Ambani, son of industrialist Mukesh Ambani, and produced 200 silver badges for delegates at the G20 Summit in New Delhi in September 2023.
SIFK, which holds a Geographical Indication (GI) status since 2007, has also been given space to set up its stall at the Global Summit where its collections will be showcased.
