Mulugu: Director General of Police (DGP) B Shivadhar Reddy stated that Karreguttalu area in Mulugu district has emerged as a Maoist-free zone.

Preparations were underway to transform Karreguttalu, a region abounding in forest wealth and a place renowned for its scenic natural beauty, into a prominent tourism hub. With the objective of ensuring complete safety for visiting tourists, the foundation stone was laid for the construction of a dedicated police outpost at Pamunuru, he revealed.

Shivadhar Reddy as part of his tour in the district on Tuesday also laid the foundation stone for an inter-agency coordination centre aimed at improved synergy among the forest, revenue, CRPF and police departments to ensure transparency in administration and speed up development works.

The DGP noted that the Maoist influence in the Karreguttalu region was now diminished. The government and the police machinery would always stand by the Guthikoya community and work towards their socio-economic upliftment.

As part of these efforts, he handed over an auto-rickshaw and a two-wheeler to seven families from Pamunuru to facilitate their collective livelihood. Additionally, he distributed a month’s supply of essential commodities to them.

Subsequently, the DGP participated in the “Arrive Alive” initiative by the Venkatapuram police, distributing helmets to 200 motorists. He visited the forward operating base (FOB) of CRPF 39th Battalion at Pamunuru and interacted with the jawans on duty.

He emphasized that continuous coordination between the State police and CRPF forces was essential to establish a strategic foothold in hilly terrains such as the Karreguttalu region and to ensure that the area remains free of Maoist activity.

Shivadhar Reddy along with PCCF Suvarna inaugurated a nursery established and managed by women in Moramuru village. SP Sudheer R Kekan, Greyhounds additional DGP Anil Kumar, SIB IGP Sumathi, CRPF IG Vikram, Eturnagaram ASP Manan Bhatt and others were present.
