Hyderabad: Huzurabad constituency Congress in-charge P Kaushik Reddy, who resigned from the party on Monday, slammed the new TPCC president A Revanth Reddy, stating that he is ruining the party and would mortgage the State’s interests to TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu.

Alleging that Revanth Reddy bribed his way to the top post in the Congress, he said: “If a person from the TDP is made TPCC chief, what is the future of those who have been loyal to the Congress for several decades? The party high command should have made CLP leader M Bhatti Vikramarkma, former Minister K Jana Reddy, MLC Jeevan Reddy or former Minister D Sridhar Babu the State Congress president.”

Earlier in the day, Kaushik Reddy, in his resignation letter to AICC president Sonia Gandhi, said the decision to resign from the party was taken in view of the prevailing political circumstances in the State. He also said he had decided to be part of Telangana’s development.

Addressing the media here, he found fault with Revanth Reddy, stating that it had been 16 days since he became TPCC president. While the BJP and the TRS had been aggressively working in the Huzurabad Assembly constituency, the Congress had not even appointed an in-charge for the segment, he said adding that former TPCC president N Uttam Kumar Reddy was far better than the current president in taking forward the party.

The Congress has a base in the constituency but the TPCC president is ignoring the crucial segment and was busy taking photographs with party workers, he said. “He is behaving like a Chief Minister after becoming PCC president. Unfortunately, this attitude does not work,” Kaushik Reddy said.

“I am sure Revanth Reddy will say tomorrow that Kaushik Reddy has switched loyalties to the TRS. In fact, it is Revanth Reddy who has been bought by BJP leader Eatala Rajender,” he said, adding that in March 2018, Revanth Reddy had come to the constituency to campaign for the Congress and indulged in bashing Rajender stating that he was involved in the civil supplies scam. “From the very next day, Revanth Reddy stopped commenting against Rajender. I wonder what happened overnight,” he said.

“If Revanth Reddy is such a great leader, why couldn’t he ensure the victory of Congress candidate in more divisions under the Malkajgiri Parliamentary constituency limits in the recent GHMC elections?” he asked.
